Welcome to Spain
Occupying 85% of the Iberian Peninsula, Spain is located in the southwestern Europe. It is one of the most favoured travel destinations and its geographically and culturally diverse. Bordered to the west by Portugal, Spain’s only other land border is in the far south with Gibraltar. Elsewhere is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea which is to the east and south east and by the Atlantic ocean north west and south west. This makes it ideal for those holidays by Sea with various Marinas to explore.
Spain harbours modern cities such as Sevilla which is famed for its musical culture and traditional folkways; Barcelona for its secular architecture and maritime industry and Madrid for its winding streets, Museums and round-the-clock lifestyle. Spain popular coastlines, diverse landscapes, historical legacy and excellent infrastructure has made it one of the largest international tourist industries.
There is plenty on offer for the yachtsmen, both afloat and ashore. Spain Offers clear climate, incredible food, fantastic scenery, outstanding moderns marinas and many anchorages, plus cultural heritage of the Moors and Christians.
Spain has predominantly warm Mediterranean climate allowing for sunbathing during its dry summers and balanced temperatures during the winter. On the coast there is less need to pack warm clothes due to its mild climate, however looking further inland, it may be wise to dress according to season as the summers are hotter and winters are cooler.
Despite the growth in number and size of Marinas, there may still be a shortage in summer so it may be wise to check in advance for availability to avoid disappointment.
